Families of European political prisoners thank Tajani for his position in defense of human rights

Relatives of the European political prisoners, who were detained in Venezuela after the presidential elections on July 28, expressed their gratitude to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tajani, for his position in defense of the human rights of those arrested.

They celebrated the fact that the official had added his request to the release of the detainees. The relatives of the Italian citizens Biagio Pilieri Gianninoto, Americo de Grazia, Daniel Echenagucia Vallenilla, Juan Marrufo Capozzi, as well as those of Perkins Rocha, a Venezuelan citizen, father and husband of Italian citizens, have highlighted the importance of the Italian Government’s statement in support of citizens, family members and European descendants detained in Venezuela for political reasons.

They reiterated, according to a press release, that the people were detained under “arbitrary circumstances and without any legal justification.” They highlighted that cThey are confident that European countries “will not sit idly by” in the face of the situation of political prisoners

In their statement, the family members thanked Minister Tajani for his words in defense of consular assistance and the urgent need for access to detainees, as well as his clear position in favor of the release of political prisoners.

“We know that Italy will not sit idly by and will do everything possible to ensure the freedom of our loved ones,” they stated.

In addition, the relatives of William Dávila, a Portuguese citizen, Sofia Sahagun and Rocío San Miguel, both of Spanish nationality, joined this cause, trusting that the governments of Portugal and Spain, together with the European Union, will join the fight. for the release of their compatriots and all European political prisoners in Venezuela. “Your words give us hope and strength in the midst of this terrible situation,” they added.

The relatives requested a meeting with Minister Tajani to provide more details about the situation of the detainees and discuss joint actions to accelerate their release. “We fully trust that, with your management, progress will be made in the release of our relatives and that of all political prisoners who face inhumane conditions in this country,” they concluded..
