A hundred families from Barrio 31, made up mostly of women, girls and boys, who were forcibly evicted by the Buenos Aires government on September 30, 2021, claimed this afternoon for “decent housing, decent work and education without limits ” at a press conference organized in the neighborhood of the Retiro area.

“The families that were evicted are today in precarious rents, overcrowded and it is difficult to progress and get ahead like this, that is why we demand decent housing, genuine work and education without limits,” informed Télam today Omar Gauna, 38, a resident of the neighborhood 31 that was evicted last year from some vacant land in the area known as “La Containera” where some 100 families had lived since July 2021.

Through the distribution of a flyer on social networks, the organization “Fuerza de Mujeres”, self-denomination of the families that were evicted last September 30 by members of the City Police, held a press conference in the nearby property. to the Professional Training Center, located at Chejolan and Ciervo de las Pampas streets.

The call, according to Gauna, had as its objective “to claim for a housing and work solution.”

“That the State guide and take care of the people who are in a situation of vulnerability and in total ignorance, they told us that they were going to build a school on the property and now it seems that there is no budget to do it,” he added.

The eviction carried out in September of last year was carried out after a major police deployment that included bulldozers and was supervised by judicial officials and the Buenos Aires government.

In the property known as “La Containera”, located on the corner of La Pampa and Ciervo de Los Andes, in the vicinity of Villa 31, the neighbors had installed a settlement with precarious housing demanding a prompt solution to the housing problem.

Finally, the occupation ended in an eviction and without a negotiated solution, after a major operation with members of the City Police.
