A mural of Falcao García is painted on one of the walls of the El Campín stadium in Bogotá, on the occasion of the signing of the experienced Colombian footballer by Millionairesa work carried out by the artist Emerson Cáceres, known as ‘Cacerolo’, in the new house of ‘El Tigre’.
After painting other well-known murals of athletes, such as those of Colombian cyclists Egan Bernal, winner of the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia, and Esteban Chaves, ‘Cacerolo’ told EFE: “For Millonarios fans it is a source of pride to have Falcao on the team, one of the best 9s in world football.”
This work was created after the artist conducted a survey on social media asking his followers if they liked the idea of making a mural of the 38-year-old player, in which “many” people ended up participating and saying yes. In addition, seeing that there were so many participants, the artist invited them to collaborate in the creation of the mural: “there were queues” and people agreed, in groups of three people, to give a brushstroke and take photos “as a souvenir of having participated.”
After announcing the mural on social media, a controversy arose because behind Falcao’s face the red and white colors of Millonarios’ rival team, Independiente Santa Fe, could be seen. Cáceres responded that he is painting the Bogotá flag, yellow and red, and that to apply the yellow he must first put on a white layer.
