MIAMI, United States. — The Havana Manufactured Gas Company reported this Monday that several municipalities in the province remain without service due to a breakdown in the compressor system located at the Puerto Escondido plant.
The entity specified in a release that its operators have been working since yesterday to restore service.
“Plant 2 is without gas availability and Plant 1 with low pressure, so there is partial affectation in the municipalities of Plaza de la Revolución, 10 de Octubre, Cerro, Habana Vieja and Centro Habana. In the case of the Playa and Marianao municipalities, the affectation is total”, indicates the note.
According to the Manufactured Gas Company, during the day “the pressures must be gradually recovered, and in correspondence with this, the service to customers will be restored.”
Forum members of the digital portal Cubadebate criticized the delay of the authorities in communicating what happened to the population.
“Why is it that when a fault occurs, both in gas and in electricity or water, the population is not informed, they do it the next day, when they are already trying to solve the problem. In this way, people look for other alternatives and we are not in the uncertainty of not knowing why there is no gas”, commented Erenia Puig.
Another Internet user, identified as Marlene, stated that the problems with gas manufactured in Havana do not date from this weekend, but from several days ago.
“For more than six days a building located at 42 e/11 y 13, Miramar, Playa, has had a break in the gas pipeline. There is no leak, but there is no gas either. The compañeros have come, but they do not agree and do nothing. Older people live in that building, including a sick person (my sister’s husband) and no solution is sought.
Problems with the supply of gas, both manufactured and liquefied, are among the inconveniences that Cubans must face, making the issue of food even more complicated, which is itself conditioned by the scarcity and high cost of basic necessities.
