An explosion in the matrix of the company Enaex Brasil, in the city of Quatro Barras, in the metropolitan region of Curitiba, injured at least seven people and left nine other missing, according to the company’s statement. The Government of Paraná, which operates in the area with firefighters and Civil Defense, speaks of nine missing and two injured and has not officially confirmed deaths.
In a statement from the Secretariat of Public Security, attributed to Secretary Hudson Leôncio Teixeira, “the factory area is safe and we can reassure residents of the nearby regions that there are no more risks.” Firefighters and police teams follow the care of the victims and the work of cooling the area and there is no forecast of completion of the work.
“The explosion was focused on a particular building. There is no reason to worry about new explosions. All victims were in the same place, which caused the explosion to be investigated by the scientific police in partnership with the Civil Police, with the support of the company itself,” said Fire commander Colonel Geraldo Hiller. He also reported that the company has the necessary authorizations to work in the field and follows security standards.
The Municipal Coordination of Civil Protection and Civil Defense is attended by residents of the region who had homes affected. Three teams survey the consequences and support families.
