The president of Ancap, Alejandro Stipanicic, announced that jet fuel (JET A1) will be arriving in Uruguay this Monday from Argentina. The measure seeks to guarantee the supply of aerofuels at the country’s main airports after the Federation of Ancap Workers (Fancap) decreed an indefinite strike at the Carrasco and Laguna del Sauce airport plants.
The hierarch affirmed that this importation carried out “in a hurry” will arrive directly to the clients once it enters the national territory.
Beyond the fact that the strike is being carried out “without union guards”, the hierarch remarked that for the moment “airport operations are guaranteed” and that he hopes that the union will soon abandon the “extreme” measures that it has been carrying out.
Ancap had stated that the union measure could threaten the supply of fuel for commercial flights.
Fancap decided to carry out this strike last Friday after the company began negotiations with a private party to rent the fuel plant it has at the Laguna del Sauce Airport. Maldonado.
