Fabiola Zavarce on the situation of Nicolás Maduro: ‘This effort did not have the full support of democratic unity’

The Venezuelan electoral authority, controlled by Chavismo, declared on Thursday “inadmissible” the request for a referendum to revoke the mandate of President Nicolás Maduro, foreseeable after the opposition abandoned the process, considering that the conditions imposed made it unfeasible.

This collection of signatures was carried out for 12 hours on Wednesday, according to the order of the National Electoral Council (CNE) that announced the day five days in advance, which according to the promoter Movimiento Venezolano por el Revocatorio (Mover) made the process unfeasible and for this he called not to participate.

According to Fabiola Zavarce, Zavarce representative of the National Assembly of Venezuela in Panama, “Venezuela continues to consolidate its unity, this effort was an isolated effort and did not have the full support of this democratic unity.”

He added that the conditions in Venezuela are very adverse and the democratic unit continues to work to consolidate itself and continue to open up space, even if it is very difficult and adverse.

It should be noted that Mover will request the annulment of the process before the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), also from the official line.

The Constitution establishes that any official elected by popular vote can be removed from office through a recall, once half of his term has expired.
