This Monday, August 8, the Political Table of the Broad Front met, one of the issues it analyzed was the insecurity situation that the country is going through and the government’s Accountability.
After the meeting, the president of the Broad Front, Fernando Pereira, stated that there is concern about insecurity, since over the weekend “seven Uruguayans have been murdered” in different violent episodes.
“We are concerned about what our legislators in Parliament have called a security emergency, and about the lack of a plan from the Ministry of the Interior,” Pereira said.
He added: “As a progressive political party we want to reach out again to the government so that if it sees a possibility of dialogue on issues that are difficult to resolve, such as insecurity, it will be at your service.”

On the other hand, the Political Table of the FA analyzed Accountability and the negative effects of not allocating resources to education, research and the University of the Republic (UDELAR).
On the other hand, Pereira said “in a country that is growing, but people live worse.”
“In economic matters we have different conceptions, many times the deficit is placed as a problem that the FA left, but for a government to have a deficit, the first thing it has to have is credibility to be presented, and the second is to have made its Gross Product grow. Domestic (GDP). Sometimes we forget, but the FA seized the government with a GDP of 15 billion dollars and returned the government, 15 years later, with more than 55 billion dollars”, he compared.
He said that this meant a 60% increase in wages, pensions, tripling the wages of domestic workers and quadrupling the wages of rural workers.
