Sandra Rossi Brito (Havana, 1967) is, in addition to a photographer, philologist, a graduate in classic lyrics and editor of literary texts, an officially practices. She was auxiliary professor at the University of Havana, where she taught Spanish grammar and writing and style.

He has received in Havana courses and workshops of introduction to digital photography (2023), history, techniques and genres of photography (2023), bird photography (2024), photographic trial (2024) and cell phone photography (2024) .

Among the more than twenty collective exhibitions in which he has participated, they stand out The forgotten imageProvincial Center for Plastic Arts and Design, 2023; XVII African art hall wemilerConcha Ferrant Gallery, 2023; VII Body Photography Hall Herman PuigMariano Rodríguez Gallery, 2023; Thoughts in Havana, the streets of LezamaPavilion Cuba (2024); DescoloquePrisma (virtual), Gijón, Spain, 2024; and IX Architecture and Heritage Photography Hall builtUnion of journalists from Cuba, 2025.

Thus Sandra Rossi tells and tells us:

“Photography, somehow, has been present in my life: my biological father was a photographer; An almost uncle, Ángel Herrera, always made my birthday photos and excursions; In family history there were several photographers, such as José Luis Llerena, historian of Guanabacoa. With one of those friends, by the way, I had my first approach to some technical terms when I was just twelve years old. I can say, then, that I grew up listening to the word photo quite frequently. All this seems to have conditioned to look in the lens the way to channel a feature of my personality that I must recognize is obsessive: share with others everything I observe around me.

“However, for a long time I did not have a camera within my reach with which to capture those ephemeral moments. A ‘affordable’ mobile and with good performance came to save that lack three years ago. Almost in unison, the hazards of life caused links to the excellent photographer Enrique Bejrano, which began an important learning stage that lasts and translates the passion for the click and nature in a more serious and oriented search to other narratives.

“Today, already with camera and the conviction that every day there is a world to learn and apprehend, photography has become the essential means of my experiences, memories and questions. It is the language that allows me to tell stories, experiment, move tastes, foster system ruptures, provoke and feel emotions, scare, amazing, enjoyment, reflection, concerns … I see in it the way to mobilize my thoughts and those of others. It is a code that works to me to highlight the relationship between context, environment or reality – as it wants to be said – with the inner world, introspection or subjectivity, both mine and the actors present on the faces of my snapshots or suggested in behaviors in behaviors reflected.

“For now, I do not define me by a specific genre, perhaps because there is still much to walk and discover (me); But I am clear that I don’t want pigeons on a particular subject. I need to feel with the same intensity both images that document my reality: those that give me the street, architecture, portrait, nature; as well as those offered by experimentation with the infinitely small of macrophotography, with the abstractions that are generated from textures, shapes, contrasts of lights and shadows, or with the most conceptual line, whose open door I thank to the Women Society project and Sources. In all, my inner world immersed in the environment will be somehow.

“I have made many good friends thanks to photography and participated in several exhibitions. All this has contributed to my training and growth. But the greatest satisfaction lies in seeing how other people enjoy and think my photos. “

We show here a tight selection of his most recent photos. In each case, she gives us the keys to the best understanding of her work.

This photo plays with that ambiguity that results from our eternal contradictions, with the helple Our limit. There is also my feeling, which at times seeks grip in the illusion of security of a ladder without principle or end.
