War in Ukraine
Regarding the phone conversation he had this week with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Bolsonaro said that Brazil will not adhere to economic sanctions against Russia and said he seeks a “balanced” stance in the conflict, to avoid shortages of products, such as fertilizers.
“He [o presidente Zelenskiy] vented a lot. I didn’t reply. There I maintained the position of statesman. Of course, Brazil is a very important country. We will not adhere to these economic sanctions, we remain in balance. If I were not in a balanced position, do you think we would have fertilizers in Brazil?”, he asked. For Bolsonaro, countries should work to end the war, instead of “raising the temperature” of the conflict.
Bolsonaro visited the gas station, next to the Brasília Television Tower, accompanied by the ministers of Mines and Energy, Adolfo Sachsida; of Justice, Anderson Torres; and the Institutional Security Office (GSI), General Augusto Heleno.
