Extortion threats in Peru's league

The Peruvian club Cesar Vallejo He claims that three of his players are being subjected to extortion threats to manipulate the result of the match they will play on Friday against Unión Comercio, a team that is playing for its permanence in the league. Peru League 1In a statement shared on social media, Vallejo strongly condemned the situation and indicated that he had reported the incident to the National Police and informed the integrity and ethics department of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) so that it could “take the necessary action.”

The club from the northern city of Trujillo also says it guarantees that “the safety and well-being” of its players is its “top priority.” However, it stresses that it will not be intimidated by these actions and on the day of the match it will go out “with the determination to win” because Trujillo deserves to have “first-class football.” In addition, it thanked its fans for their support and assured that it will continue working to achieve sporting success.

On Friday, Vallejo will play a match against Unión Comercio for the tenth round of the Clausura tournament, where its rival is at the bottom and with the possibility of being relegated to the second division, just like UTC and Carlos Manucci. For its part, Vallejo is only one goal behind UTC, who it ties in points, and its permanence in the first division next year is not guaranteed either.
