Explosion leaves at least 20 injured and several dead in Santander

A serious emergency was recorded this Saturday night in Barrancabermeja, Santander, after an explosion in well 7, in an establishment selling gas cylinders, which generated panic among the Oil Port community.

Firefighters and authorities arrived at the scene to put out the flames. while the Mayor’s Office declared a hospital yellow alert to care for nearly 20 wounded.

“The Mayor’s Office of Barrancabermeja and all the relief agencies are currently attending to the emergency that was registered in the sector of well 7, in commune seven of the District”explained the undersecretary of Citizen Security, Adith Romero.

Although the exact number of injured people and deaths is not yet known, there is talk of at least twenty wounded and several deceased people who will be identified by the authorities.

Due to the severity of the emergency, all relief agencies are helping the wounded, so they called on the community to withdraw from the sector.

“We call on the community to withdraw from the place,” authorities noted.
