Santo Domingo.- A strong explosion registered in a residential tower, located on Calle H in the Villa Marina sector, in the National District, caused alarm among residents and surrounding communities in the afternoon of this Wednesday.

Units from the National District Fire Department and ambulances from the National Emergency and Security Assistance System 9-1-1 immediately responded to the scene to control the situation, assess damage and assist residents.

So far no injuries have been reported. In addition, fire brigades rescued several pets inside the building.

The authorities reported that the exact cause of the incident remains under investigation, in order to precisely determine the origin of the explosion and prevent similar situations in other buildings.

The residents of the condominium expressed their concern about the impact of the event and the fear generated among the families who live in the area.
