According to Hermosillo authorities, the events occurred shortly after 3:00 p.m. on November 1 in the self-service store located on Doctor Noriega and Matamoros, in the center of this city, without the causes of the fire and explosion being known so far.
The preliminary balance is ten women, seven minors and six men deceased and 11 injured, who were transferred to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
The head of the Hermosillo fire department, Juan Francisco Matty Ortega, explained that once the fire was controlled, ministerial authorities began collecting evidence and removing the bodies.
“It was a fire in a commercial establishment, we had to carry out rescue and rescue work, which took a significant amount of time since there were many people inside,” he explained in a brief interview with local media.
Governor Alfonso Durazo instructed state institutions to provide immediate attention to the victims and open an investigation to determine the causes of the incident.
