SANTO DOMINGO.– A strong explosion recorded this Wednesday in a home in the Los Pinos sector of Arroyo Hondo resulted in the death of a father and his son, who were carrying out welding work when the explosion occurred.
The deceased were identified as Juan Rafael Carmona Peña and Rafael Carmonawho were working on the repair of a metal structure in a house located in the La Cuesta street, number 2when, suddenly, a tank containing dieselcausing a devastating shock wave.
Witnesses assured that the impact of the explosion was so strong that it was heard in surrounding areas, causing alarm among residents. Minutes later, neighbors tried to put out the flames with the resources at their disposal while emergency units arrived.
Staff of the National District Fire Department and of National Emergency System 9-1-1 He went to the scene to control the fire and rescue the bodies of the victims, who were left lifeless instantly due to the magnitude of the incident.
