Explosion and collapse in San Vicente: the business owner is arrested

Deputy Commissioner Víctor Perdomo, deputy chief of the 18th Asunción Police Station, reported that a 57-year-old Oriental man, with a Paraguayan ID, was arrested yesterday afternoon, after the intervention carried out in the industrial laundry where an explosion occurred.

“He owns the laundry, he spent the night at the police station, the arrest is at the request of the prosecutor,” Perdomo explained, in an interview with 780 AM.

The man stated that the explosion occurred by chance and they do not know the reasons for the accident. To find out the causes of the event, the results of the expertise are awaited.

The prosecution will take a statement during the course of this morning and will subsequently order the measures to be applied. The presentation of documents confirming that the premises have municipal authorization is also pending.

The business explosion caused the collapse of the entire structure and left three people injured, who were trapped in the rubble and were rescued by firefighters.
