After successive announcements that it will be released, the expert report on the fire in the Superior Court of Electoral Justice finally “emerged.”
It states that the fire was not provoked, and that it was due to thermoelectric issues (short circuit) of an accidental nature.
Prosecutor Giovanni Grisetti, one of those in charge of handling the file, said that despite the report of experts from the police, prosecutor’s office, firefighters and other specialized references, it is now time to investigate the responsibilities of officials, in prior compliance with the security protocol, that it could have minimized the impact of the fire to its minimum expression, which apparently did not happen,
“The team of prosecutors will now carefully analyze to continue with the legal analysis in the event of possible administrative faults or poor performance of fire prevention officials,” said Grisetti.
In the fire in part of the TSJE, 7,500 voting machines were completely destroyed.
A TSJE official died in the incident, in circumstances that until now were unclear.
TSJE technicians, meanwhile, admitted that the machines devoured by fire were not protected according to the guidelines established in the safety manual.
