Expensive and doubtful contract of disinfection in IPS

Vital SA was awarded for a total value of G. 43,604 million (US$ 6.3 million) by the Social Security Institute (IPS). He managed to win the so-called tender; “Contracting of Long-acting Disinfection Services for the different IPS dependencies” with ID 404692. For this tender, offers began to be received on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.

The aforementioned firm’s legal representative is Sandra Elizabeth Patiño Mancuello. One more company came to the call: Mariela Carolina Molas Samudio.

MEDICAL

Edilberto Rivarola, president of the Medical Association of the Social Security Institute (IPS), expressed that there is a lot of mystery surrounding the issue of disinfection. Since they are not known, published or socialized.

“This I would like you to transfer the question to the pension directors. The times that the association has made this consultation to infectology professionals, to the infection control area, many times we have received information that they themselves do not know what type of products are used. It is an issue that they have been moving forward for a long time, we do not understand, ”he commented.

He said that there is no protocol to follow in the IPS related to disinfection. This, taking into account that they are chemical products that are harmful to health. It should be noted that on the walls of the hospital, on the boards, in the places where information is published, there are no recommendations on the care that should be taken into account.

“If you go to the central hospital and enter through the main entrance, the ground floor and you go up the stairs, you will see that the corridor is full of relatives of patients. But there are lounge chairs even on the mezzanine, inflatable mattresses in the corridors. We absolutely do not want to judge the health authorities, since it is the responsibility of the administrative part of the pension, “he said.

COMPLAINT

A complaint made yesterday by Amips was that cleaning workers, from the Poti company, have not received their salaries for months. To avoid reprisals or dismissals, they preferred not to give the names of the affected workers.

“We are a union whose line of thought and action is always the protection of our workers, of our union in the first place and in the second place of the people who collaborate with the institution,” he said.

Due to this situation, cleaners of operating rooms, intensive care rooms, morgue, pathological anatomy and laboratories, are exposed to the handling of pathological waste in dangerous and sensitive areas.

“In the IPS we already collect our salaries on days 26 to 27. But these poor people still do not get paid on days 10 to 11 of each month. We cannot make the complaint that we make on their behalf because we do not want to risk them,” he explained.

The association made the complaint as an act of solidarity, even though those affected belong to an outsourced company.
