The operations and maintenance manager of the Sanitation Program of the City and Bay of Panama, Carlos Singh, affirmed that they are advancing with the expansion works of the wastewater treatment plant, located in the Juan Díaz corregimiento, which will be inaugurated in the coming months, without specifying an exact date.
The engineer Carlos Singh recalled that the first stage of the sanitation project was completed and that currently the Juan Diaz plant receives wastewater from the Casco Antiguo to the district of Tocumen for treatment.
With the sanitation program for the City and Bay of Panama, other complementary projects are being carried out, such as the authorization of the Matasnillo river collector, which would become an important element for the sanitation of the basin, while a contract for consultancy for the analysis of the areas that have been identified with problems in the sewage system of Panama City.
The official mentioned that the works on projects related to the sanitation program include the operation and maintenance of the systems and the bidding of works in the districts of Arraiján and La Chorrera, in the province of Panamá Oeste.
This Friday, April 22, the complete opening of East 31st Street, in the township of Calidonia, was carried out, after having worked on the repair of the pipes of the sanitary sewer system, which were collapsed and which led to the overflow of sewage water. The works included the rehabilitation of the pavement. In parallel, the City Sanitation Program teams intervened in other streets of the capital district, where similar problems also arose.
Work on East 31st Street, next to the Adán Gordon Pool, began last December and cost approximately $530,000.
