Grupo Éxito announced that it will make a investment in 2025 in Colombia of US$100 millionintended for the development of different types of projects in their different businesses and channels: retail, e-commerce and real estate.
The information was provided by the president of Grupo Éxito, Carlos Calleja, and Carlos Mario Giraldo, leader of the chain in Colombia, who gave details of their strategy to consolidate their stores around Carulla and Éxito, which means the disappearance of formats such as Surtimax and Supermayorista.
In this sense, it is worth highlighting that among the changes What these stores will suffer are Éxito warehouses will exist as a Group hypermarket, while Carulla will be a supermarket “close to customers.”

Hypermarkets – according to the Faster Capital portal – in essence, are large supermarkets “offering a wide variety of products and services under one roof“, that is, where it is possible to find objects for the home, food, cosmetics, technologyamong others, because, currently, the consumer seeks to find the greatest number of elements in the same place, instead of going to other places.
On the other hand, the supermarkets are “retail commercial establishment in which all types of food items, beverages, cleaning products, etc. are sold, and in which the customer serves himself and pays at the exit”, according to the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language.

Thus things, in Success stores people will be able to find different lines of products (from food, personal care and household products, clothing for the whole family, elements technological, household appliancesamong others).

Changes underway
The first steps in this plan focused on Carulla were taken with the conversions of Carulla Gran Vía, in Medellín, and Carulla Galerías, in Bogotá. For these works, 12.5 billion pesos were invested and the following areas were improved:
– Butcher shop with more square metersbetter service and cuts of meat.
– Gourmet Section with healthy, imported and exclusive products.
– Fresh bakery every day close to home.
– Best fruit and vegetable section.
– Practical prepared meal solution and ready for consumption as a hot dog. Some will feature barbecue, sushi and chilled and hot ready-to-go food.
– Strengthened assortment in food categoriespersonal and home care.
