Exile pays tribute to mothers of political prisoners in the Ermita de la Caridad del Cobre

MIAMI, United States. — Activists and members of the Cuban exile community demonstrated this Sunday at the Hermitage of Caridad del Cobre (Miami) in favor of the mothers of political prisoners held in prisons on the Island.

“Today it is impossible not to be sad, not to be connected in every way with those we are missing and with those we are seeing suffer. But today is also to give strength to all those mothers, to the mothers of all the political prisoners,” Rosa María Payá, promoter of Cuba decides.

Present at the tribute was the activist and reporter Stephen Rodriguezbanished from the Island at the beginning of last January.

“All together we are going to make this dictatorship end. And it will end (…) We cannot give up, for those who are in there in prison, for the political prisoners who are now away from their mothers who do not even have the possibility of calling their mothers.”

Rodríguez pointed out that the Cuban exile community is obliged to support the mothers of Cuban political prisoners, who in many cases must face the harassment and harassment of the political police.

“Political prisoners suffer, yes, but mothers also suffer,” said the activist.

During the demonstration, the activists and exiles exchanged via online with relatives of political prisoners who are in Cuba.

In addition to Rosa María Payá and Esteban Rodríguez, Anamelys Ramos, curators Claudia Genlui, Carolina Barrero and Salomé García Bacallao, among others, participated in the tribute.
