Young traffic offenders will be able to reduce fines by participating in an awareness campaign
The Departmental Administration promotes an educational initiative that will allow a percentage of the penalty to be reduced through community road prevention tasks. They must hand out brochures.
Today, Friday, starting at 8 p.m., the Departmental Administration will launch a road awareness campaign in different parts of the city of Melo, which will include the participation of young traffic offenders.
Within the framework of this initiative, young people who have committed infractions and received fines will be able to access a partial reduction of the financial penalty through an exchange system, carrying out community tasks linked to road safety education.
The activity will consist of the delivery of informative and explanatory brochures to drivers and passers-by, promoting respect for traffic rules and the prevention of accidents.
The campaign will take place at different traffic light intersections and strategic points in the city, including Saravia and Sánchez Mata, Wilson Ferreira Aldunate, Ruta 8 and Muñoz and Saravia and Castellanos, where the participants will be distributed in an organized manner.
The Municipality highlighted that this proposal seeks to transform the sanction into an educational instance, promoting responsibility, reflection and social commitment of young people, while reinforcing prevention and road safety actions in the department.
The initiative is part of a joint work between different municipal areas, aimed at generating greater citizen awareness and reducing risk behavior in urban traffic.
