The president of the Council of Ministers, Eduardo Aranaannounced Monday that the technical table for the formalization of mining, promoted by the Executive, approved a document that will be the basis for the new Formalization and promotion law of small mining and artisanal mining (MAPE Law).
This will be sent to the Energy and Mines Commission of the Congress of the Republic, since it was consolidated with contributions from the members of the Technical Board with the objective of being an input for the Legislative to work in a new standard.
“(The consolidated document has been approved) with the contributions of the members of the technical table that will serve as the basis for the new MAPE law, which will be sent today to the Energy Commission of the Congress of the Republic, by the Technical Secretariat of this Technical Commission to be considered in the debate of the MAPE Law,” said Arana.
The Premier also indicated that the agreement is not binding, but it is a civil proposal so that Congress can give an answer regarding the problem of artisanal mining.
“All these aspects that are important and vital for artisanal miners and small mining can have a space within the law, which we expect the Congress of the Republic can adopt as soon as possible,” he said.
For his part, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Jorge Montero, said that the document approved for mining formalization contains 11 consensus points, with short, medium and long term approaches.
In addition, he reiterated that he will not go back in the formalization of the mining activity and that the Integral Mining Formalization Registry (reinfo) beyond the planned term will not be extended.
