The president invoked the holder of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Óscar Graham, to meet with his peer from the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri), Javier Arce, to work on the initiative that complements the more than S/ 348 million that was granted last week with the intention of buying fertilizers.
The president also delivered 180 tons of guano from the islands for family farming to farmers in the Chancay-Huaral valley as part of the second agrarian reform.

For his part, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru, Roberto Sánchez, stated that the Peruvian government has been carrying out various actions to supply fertilizers to agriculture and be adequately prepared for the global alarm about an imminent food crisis.
“President Pedro Castillo is very committed to national agriculture. He knows its importance to overcome this international crisis that is the product of the war between Russia and Ukraine and the international rise in prices of various products. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen our farmers, which will also support national foreign trade“, said.
In addition, Sánchez affirmed that his sector has been monitoring the behavior of international markets and making proposals -as other sectors do-, so that the Executive evaluates measures to be implemented that allow economic reactivation.
Strengthen MSMEs
On the other hand, Sánchez mentioned that it seeks to strengthen the capacities of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), as well as associations, which will imply generating more employment in the country’s regions.
He stressed that the negotiations and updating of trade agreements will continue to provide greater opportunities to national exporters and importers.
“Exploratory work will begin shortly with a view to initiating negotiations for future free trade agreements between Peru and the economies of Hong Kong and Indonesia. A few days ago we also modernized our trade agreement with Thailand, great news that will facilitate bilateral trade”, referred the head of the Mincetur.
