The Executive Branch accepted the resignation of Betssy Chavez Chino to the position of Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, and thanked her for the services rendered to the Nation, according to the Supreme Resolution 155-2022-PCM published this Sunday in “El Peruano”.
The norm was signed by the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo Terrones, and the President of the Council of Ministers, Aníbal Torres Vásquez.
The plenary session of Congress approved the motion of censure against Chávez on May 26. According to the Internal Regulations of Parliament, in this case the President of the Republic must accept the resignation of his official within the following 72 hours.

For the motion of censure to be approved, half plus one of the legal number of congressmen was required; that is, 66 votes. This was promoted by the Fuerza Popular bench and was approved with 71 votes in favor, 28 against and 12 abstentions.
Ten of the adhesions to the initiative came from parliamentary groups related to the Government: nine from Peru Libre and one from the Magisterial Bloc. Without these, especially those of the perulibrista caucus, the motion that forces the minister to resign from office would not have reached the minimum 66 votes.
Chavez was censored for being considered responsible for the air traffic controllers’ strike during Easter.
“It may seem very unfair to me and, I repeat, it will be history that judges. But I ask the Congress of the Republic to turn the page and advance in reflection and dialogue”, Said the former minister after her censorship.
