Executive extends state of emergency in border districts of Tacna for 60 days

He Executive power ordered the expansion 60 days of the state of emergency in the border districts of Palca, Tacna and La Yarada-Los Palosin the Tacna region, as part of the actions to combat organized crime and various acts of violence.

The decision was made official through the Supreme Decree No. 013-2026-PCMpublished by the Government.

The norm also declares, for the same period, the state of emergency in the district of Taratabelonging to the province of the same name, due to similar insecurity problems linked to criminal activities.

Police control and support of the Armed Forces

According to the legal device, the National Police of Peru maintains control of internal order in the areas declared in emergency, with the support of the Peruvian Armed Forces.

Intervention actions will be defined on the basis of intelligence information, official statistics and crime maps, with the aim of focusing operations on the points of greatest criminal incidence.

Restriction of constitutional rights

During the state of emergency, constitutional rights such as the inviolability of the home, freedom of movement, freedom of assembly and personal security are restricted in the districts covered by the measure.

The Executive maintains that this provision is necessary to reinforce security in strategic areas of the country’s southern border.
