Executive evaluates transferring some powers from presidential delegations to regional governments

President Gabriel Boric instructed the Interministerial Decentralization Committee to evaluate the appropriateness of transferring six powers from the delegations to the regional governments. The committee will have six months to carry out the evaluation.

According The Mercurythe attributions correspond to the presidency of the Environmental Evaluation Committee, the presidency of the Regional Training Council, the presidency of the Regional Committee for the Use of the Coastal Border, integrate ex-intendent powers and governors in the matter, and the establishment of access roads to beaches on the adjoining land.

The competitions also include the delivery of free short-term concessions and the preparation of intercommunal urban plans.

The evaluation process will be carried out with the support of the Undersecretariat for Regional and Administrative Development.

The Association of Regional Governors will meet on May 13 with the committee, the Sub-headquarters, and sectoral ministers in La Moneda. The objective is to clarify the details of the competences that are intended to be transferred.
