the minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), Roberto Sánchez, announced that the presidency of the Council of Ministers approved declaring the emergency Tourism Sector at the national level through Supreme Decree No. 004-2022-Mincetur published in the official newspaper “El Peruano”.
Sánchez highlighted: “This is the result of the coordinated work between the National Government and the private sector, through the Executive Board for the Development of the Tourism Sector, which is an important space for articulation led by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism. We will prioritize urgent financial and economic measures that benefit tourism entrepreneurs throughout the country, we will boost public-private investments in tourism and we will strengthen tourism facilitation and promotion actions.”
The head of the Mincetur also stated: “The Government led by President Pedro Castillo has made a real commitment to reactivate the tourism sector throughout the country, severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.”
MEASURES
The Supreme Decree states: “Declare the tourism sector in emergency at the national level until December 31, 2022, due to the effects generated by Covid-19”.
Likewise, it indicates: “The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism approves by Ministerial Resolution, the Emergency Plan for the Tourism Sector within a period of fifteen (15) business days counted from the day following the publication of this Supreme Decree in the newspaper official “The Peruvian”.
“The Emergency Plan for the Tourism Sector aims to establish sectoral measures to mitigate the serious crisis that tourism is going through as a result of Covid-19, as well as to propose and support different regulations, before the competent authorities, based on the following lines of action: financial rescue measures, economic support, tourism facilitation, promotion of investment in tourism and tourism promotion”, highlights in article 3.
Therefore, it states: “The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the measures contained in the Emergency Plan, with the coordination of the Executive Board for Tourism Development, created by RM No. 307- 2018-EF/10″.
