One of the main approaches to the project is public investment, which increases to RD $ 215,284.7 million (2.5 % of GDP). This investment seeks to boost economic growth, improve infrastructure and support key sectors such as transport, tourism and agricultural, in line with the objectives of the Meta RD 2036 plan, which proposes to double national GDP.
In addition to economic investment, the 2026 budget is oriented by the Public Sector National Plan 2025-2028, which identifies 17 strategic priorities. These include improvements in citizen security through police reform, the strengthening of the health system, investments in drinking water and support for the celebration of the Central American and Caribbean Sports Games.
The government emphasizes that this budget seeks to maintain macroeconomic stability, strengthen the competitiveness of productive sectors and guarantee access to quality public services, especially for the most vulnerable sectors. The remission letter highlights the goal of achieving fiscal results that balance public finances in the medium term.
With the deposit of this bill, the legislative process that will allow its analysis and eventual approval in the National Congress is opened. The General State Budget 2026 is presented as a key tool to sustain economic growth, consolidate postpania recovery and advance the country’s sustainable development commitments.
