The Venezuelan authorities released two Colombians on Saturday 8, identified as Diel López Pérez and Juan Fernando Zúñiga, who were arrested on January 6 in the town of Ureña, Táchira state.
These citizens were transferred from Caracas to San Antonio del Táchira, accompanied by members of the Colombian Consulate team to Cúcuta to meet their families.
The Colombian Foreign Ministry reported that both the Embassy and the Consulate identified the citizens, processed their travel documents and provided assistance in the field of lodging, food and economic aid for the acquisition of basic elements of cleaning and costumes.
The Colombian government asked the Venezuelan authorities to cooperate with the diplomatic authorities to “proceed with the liberation of the other Colombians who have been arrested since July 2024 and that, to date, they have not been able to access consular assistance.”
