The former president of Colombia, Álvaro Uribe Vélez, spoke about the recent border tension in the Amazon area of Santa Rosa de Loreto and called to preserve the relationship between Colombia and Peru, highlighting the importance of working together in the protection of the Amazon.
Through his official X (former Twitter) account, Uribe Vélez said “Peru is a brother who helps fight terrorism and a partner to protect the Amazon”so he proposed to make a joint dredging in the border area of the Amazon river to avoid the expansion of the islands and mitigate the change in morphology of the channel.
Based on experts, he reiterated that the dredging To protect the port of Leticia and its aqueduct, as the river moves away, it is difficult to drink water from the Yahuarcaca creek.
Uribe persisted that these actions should not be braking by political differences or diplomatic, since the important thing is to protect the channel and the Amazon jungle.
“It does not make so much environmental discourse if the Amazon felling and illegal mining continues. It is painful for governments to forget families that will currently make perfect combination with green bonds.”wrote.
