Cecilia Urquieta, lawyer of former President Evo Morales, denounced this Sunday alleged Yoirregularities in judicial action that ended with a restitution order for the former departmental prosecutor of Tarija, Sandra Gutiérrez, after she was fired from her job in the midst of the scandal due to an arrest warrant against the former president.
The jurist said that the former prosecutor of Tarija entered a freedom action on October 3 to the Anti-Corruption Criminal Sentencing Court 25, led by Judge Miguel Flores.
“This release action has been duly registered and we have information that both Judge (Yvan) Córdova and officials from the Ministry of Justice have gone to intimidate the judge (Flores), They have tried to force me to issue a resolution in favor of the former prosecutor”, he noted.
However, according to his version, Judge Flores has refused and given this situation, the judicial appeal has been withdrawn.
He added that the sponsoring lawyer who withdrew that freedom action, named Vacaflor, was until a few weeks ago one of the directors of the State Attorney General’s Office (PGE), which was then led by Cesar Siles, current Minister of Justice.
So, this “person very close to the now Minister of Justice (…) has withdrawn, with a memorial, the freedom action because it did not fall in the court they wanted, because it did not fall in the court that they could manipulate,” Urquieta said in a contact with Kawsachun Coca radio.
The lawyer said that later they re-entered the freedom action from the former prosecutor, but this time “illegally without there being a draw or formal registration in the Judicial Branch system.”
“It is a new action for freedom that has fallen in Anti-Corruption Court 15, (in charge of Judge) Yvan Córdova,” who finally ruled in favor of Gutiérrez and ordered that she be restored to her position, he stated.
Who is Yvan Córdova?
According to Evo Morales’ lawyer, Judge Córdova has been Deputy Attorney for Supervision and Intervention of the PGE, while Cesar Siles was attorney.
Furthermore, this judge “is now being nominated as a candidate for Attorney General of the State and also as a candidate for the Supreme Court of Justice, (i.e.) It is a key piece of Mr. Cesar Siles, we want to publicly denounce that justice is being manipulated so that this action of freedom has precisely fallen so that it illegally, unconstitutionally and criminally favors Mrs. Gutiérrez (…) so that they can once again place (the arrest order) against former president Evo Morales (who is being investigated for alleged rape and trafficking of people)”, he pointed out.
