Former President Evo Morales arrived in Caracas (Venezuela) on Friday, where yesterday he attended the fifth congress of the ruling Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV). This trip is the first of an international nature made by the former president since the former director of the Felcn Maximiliano Dávila was arrested.
“We appreciate the invitation of our Venezuelan brothers to accompany the V Congress of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela and the IV Youth Congress of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela of world leaders. For us it is always a great honor to visit the land of Bolívar, Chávez and Nicolás Maduro,” Morales tweeted.
On the night of January 22, Dávila, former director of the Special Force to Fight Drug Trafficking (Felcn) during the Morales administration, was arrested in Villazón (Potosí). He is investigated by the DEA and his name appears in an indictment of the United States justice system for drug and arms trafficking.
From that date until Friday, Morales did not leave Cochabamba or the country, except for February 24, when he attended the Anata Andino de Oruro, where he was seen safely.
On February 8, when two presentations of the book Evo: Operación Rescate were held in Mexico, Morales attended via teleconference.
On Friday, Morales’ flight arrived on Venezuelan soil, whose government is an ideological ally of the former president.
The MAS leader was received at the airport by Rander Peña Ramírez, deputy minister of the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Yesterday afternoon, at the congress of the official party of that country, the former president tweeted that he was impressed by the participation of the youth and women. “Impressed by the participation of youth and women with principles and values that guarantee the resistance, renewal and revolution of Venezuela and the legacy of the eternal commander Hugo Chávez Frías,” Morales wrote.
