The ex-president Evo Morales traveled to Venezuela where he participates in the acts of commemoration of the nine years of the death of the former president of that country, Hugo Chávez Frías. From Caracas, the leader of the MAS denounced the economic blockade and the threats made by the United States as a result of the support of the administration of Nicolás Maduro for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
As soon as he set foot on Venezuelan soil, the former president, who in November 2019 resigned from the presidency of Bolivia, condemned “the interventionist and criminal policy of the United States, which qualifies Venezuela as an ‘extraordinary threat’ to national security to justify sanctions and attacks against the brotherly Venezuelan people. The only global threat is the US interventionist arms buildup”.
Venezuela has openly supported the Russian invasion of Ukraine, while from the Kremlin they have not ruled out that the Russian army has in the country that Nicolás Maduro presides today, weapons and troops that point to the US. That is why the White House made those statements.
Later, on his Twitter account, Morales posted a series of comments in tribute to his late political mentor, Hugo Chávez. “We remember nine years since the departure of brother, companion and commander Hugo Chávez Frías, in the midst of the pain of millions of Venezuelans and Latin Americans who said goodbye to the great revolutionary leader, who opened the path of Socialism of the XXI Century for the benefit of the poorest”.
Then he added that “Brother Hugo Chávez Frías was the most visionary, generous and supportive president that strengthened with tireless determination the bonds of brotherhood between free peoples of the Great Homeland longed for by Simón Bolívar. His ‘crime’ was to bring health, food and well-being to his people”.
He stated that, for denouncing “injustices of capitalism, (Chávez) suffered hate attacks and attempts on his life. Now, to destroy his legacy, the US economically blocks Venezuela. But the example of Chávez is the light that shines forever on the revolutionary path. Chavez lives, the struggle continues!”.
This Saturday morning, in La Paz, Bolivian and Venezuelan citizens participated in a mass in facilities of the embassy of that country in Bolivia.
