The former president and head of the Movimiento Al Socialismo (MAS), Evo Morales, considered this Monday that the Minister of Justice, Iván Lima, called “suspiciously” again the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) to visit the country and presumed that this visit is a “distraction” given the failure of the judicial reform.
“The Minister of Justice in person warned us that he would request a judgment of responsibilities for (former President Jeanine) Áñez. Now, suspiciously call the IACHR. Since they failed with the neoliberal justice reform with the notables, now they distract with visits from international commissions, ”Morales expressed through his Twitter account.
On Sunday, Lima confirmed that five of the seven IACHR commissioners will visit Bolivia from March 23 to 30 to find out directly and without intermediaries the situation of human rights in the country.
The government authority even assured that, if the commissioners see fit, they will be able to visit the prisons where they are detained. former president Áñez and the governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho.
“As a government we open the doors, we respect health, due process and if they decide to speak at some point with Governor Camacho and former senator Áñez, there will be no restrictions, they can make those visits if their schedule allows it,” Lima indicated.
However, “so many visits by the IACHR and up to now the victims of the Senkata and Sacaba massacres have not obtained justice for 3 years. Despite the recommendations of the GIEI (Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts) the coup plotters and massacrers continue unpunished for political calculations of those who manipulate the Judicial Branch,” Morales added in another message broadcast on the same digital platform.
