Evo says that Arce ministers are behind the trial against him in Peru

The former president and head of the Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS), Evo Morales, denounced yesterday that some government ministers Luis Arce seek to prosecute him and assured that these authorities are behind the legal process against him in Peru. The former president said that he is not “scared” by the complaint that is being processed in that country. Meanwhile, the Minister of the Presidency, María Nela Prada, denied that Arce’s cabinet is behind the lawsuit against Morales in the neighboring country.

“I have met with the legal team and they tell me that the process has neither head nor tail. I have information, not yet confirmed, that some ministers are accompanying this demand, I do not want to say who they are. Time will show, we have already said here: some ministers decided that Evo is not going to be a candidate,” he said in an interview with Kawsachun Coca radio.

Evo Morales did not deliver his defenses to the Puno Prosecutor’s Office, in Peru, which is investigating him for being part of an alleged “separatist plan” in that region. His defense considered that it is a case of “political persecution” against him.

The complaint was filed by the Popular Renovation congressman Jorge Montoya, who denounced that in an act on November 17, 2022, the then regional governor of Puno, Germán Alejo, assured Evo Morales that Puno would join his Runasur geopolitical project and the so-called “Aymara Nation” would be created.

Regarding the process, Morales added that the lawsuit in Peru against him does not scare him, he insisted that this lawsuit has no legal basis. In this sense, he affirmed that he is politically persecuted for defending the rights of social organizations in the neighboring country.

After referring to the process against him in Peru, the former president said that he is also a victim of persecution in the country. He assured that a group of soldiers, called ‘pachajchos’, entered the Cochabamba tropics. The ex-authority considered that they intend to implant evidence to prosecute him.

Denies Evo

In this regard, Minister Prada assured that the Government of Luis Arce has not promoted nor has the intention of getting involved in the process that the Peruvian justice system is following for meddling in the internal affairs of that country.

“What (Evo) Morales stated is totally false. We as a Government have never been promoting any type of process against the president of our political party, the MAS-IPSP, brother Evo Morales. Never”, emphasized Prada.

The Minister of the Presidency added that President Luis Arce has no intention of investigating Morales or accompanying the process that was installed in Peru against the MAS leader. Prada remarked that there is a “political agenda” that seeks to fracture the ruling party.

“We are committed to complying with the people and a government effort for the benefit of the people for what they elected us (those accusations) have a political intention. There is a political agenda to seek to fracture the MAS – IPSP as the only way to defeat the MAS-IPSP and that is why we cannot fall for that or lend ourselves to that game,” the authority explained.
