In the midst of the expansion of the Six Federations of the Tropic of Cochabamba, former president Evo Morales proposed nationalizing the Santa Cruz cooperatives as a way of responding to the ghost items scandal.
The governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho, came forward with the proposal, lashed out at the leader of the Movement Toward Socialism (MAS) and assured that the cooperative system is a pride of Santa Cruz that should be repeated in the rest of the country.
“The issue of Santa Cruz is not only a matter of corruption, that is the Santa Cruz institutions, managed by some oligarchic politicians, who for 20, 30 years, have been enriched by Santa Cruz institutions. The COB knows, it knows the Unity Pact, it is the best time to nationalize CRE, Cotas and Saguapac ”, said Morales during his intervention in the expansion of the Chapare coca growers.
Camacho’s response did not wait. Through his social media account, he pointed to Morales and his role in politics: later, he defended the Santa Cruz cooperative model.

“The cooperative system is a pride of Santa Cruz, it is a reflection of the successful model, with an open and competitive economy that, among other things, provides food for Bolivia. Santa Cruz contributes 30% of GDP and receives crumbs from centralism. It is already good that people like this man who the only thing he did in his life was politicking and sowing violence, want to put their hands in our institutions, “he said.
Then he urged: “Stop attacking Santa Cruz, rather copy what we do well and replicate it in the rest of Bolivia.”
The new verbal crossing occurs in the middle of the investigations into the case of the alleged 800 ghost items in the Mayor’s Office of Santa Cruz.
The MAS and the opponents have crossed accusations about responsibility in this process that led to the arrest of former mayor Angélica Sosa.
