Former President Evo Morales greeted El Alto for his 37 years of life and affirmed that it is a fighting town, which in 2013 removed Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada and in 2020 the “coup.”
“I take this opportunity to express my respect, my affection and admiration for the Alteño people. An Alteño people not only united but above all revolutionary, hard-working. They made a lot of history, in 2003 they expelled the gonismo and in 2020 they expelled the coup”, he asserted during the Sunday program Evo, leader of the humble, from Radio Kausachun Coca (RKC).
He highlighted that in November of last year, in the march for life that he led, the people of El Alto accompanied President Luis Arce and Vice President David Choquehuanca regardless of the rain. “The people of El Alto know that despite the rain, from dawn to noon, jumping in support of the president, the vice president, and that is why I never forget the people of El Alto.”

The city of El Alto celebrates its 37th anniversary this Sunday. The president and municipal authorities participate from Friday in different acts and parades in commemoration of the anniversary.
“The city of El Alto has been at the forefront in 2013 as one of the most mobilized sectors to say enough is enough to neoliberalism and they left so many dead. In the last battle, El Alto again, the peasant movement and other social movements fought. The massacres of 2003 and the massacre of 2019, Senkata and Sacaba we can never forget,” Morales said.
He asked that justice act and accelerate the corresponding processes for the good of the Bolivian people, but also “so that a coup d’état, massacres, genocide is never repeated.”
