Thousands of Colombians who worked their entire lives, but did not complete the required weeks, will be able to access new hope.
With the pension reform that comes into force this 2025, Colombia adds a new figure to its system: the lifetime pension. An alternative designed for older adults who, despite having worked for a large part of their lives, were unable to meet the traditional requirements for paid weeks.

What are the requirements?

In cases where the person does not reach the minimum 300 weeks, the State contemplates basic solidarity income, equivalent to 80% of the current minimum wage.

The step by step to access
Applicants must submit the following documents:
- Citizenship card.
- Quotation supports.
- Official form provided by the chosen insurer.
Once the documents have been filed, the entity evaluates the request. If the requirements are met, the benefit is approved, the amount of which may not exceed 80% of the minimum wage. It is worth clarifying that this pension is not inheritable or transferable.
