Are you sick and did you test positive for Covid-19? You will no longer need the result to be endorsed by your health insurance. This document, which was issued by a private laboratory, is valid for obtaining medical leave for seven days, according to the most recent government provision.
The instruction was issued by the Short-Term Social Security Supervisory Authority (Asuss) to eliminate the long lines that were registered in the different hospitals. Here are the 13 points you should know to access this measure.
one Real-time PCR or nasal antigen tests are the responsibility of the social security. But, in the face of the health emergency caused by Covid-19, -which brought long lines or crowds- Asuss ordered that the procedure for obtaining a leave be shorter and more expeditious for the insured.
two The biochemical analysis centers legally authorized by the National Coordinator of Laboratories (Conalab), dependent on the Ministry of Health and the departmental health services (Headquarters) of the country, may issue positive results that will have the quality of an affidavit. The Government warns that its falsification will be subject to sanctions.
3 The insured will present the laboratory test with a positive result to the human resources area of the state or private division in physical or digital form.
4 The human resources area must proceed to process -digitally- the certificate of temporary disability or medical leave, which will be computed from the issuance of the positive result of Covid-19.
5 In order to comply with these instructions, the short-term social security management entities must enable an institutional email or WhatsApp number to send the results of the PCR or nasal antigen test.
These data must be communicated to the insurance companies within a maximum period of 48 hours from yesterday, the day the instructions were issued.
6 With the mere presentation of the positive result – through digital media – the managing entities of the short-term social security will grant the certificate of temporary disability for seven calendar days. The issuance of the cancellation must be made through the same digital means to private and public entities.
7 A new certificate of temporary disability or medical leave may be issued in accordance with the consideration of the treating physician.
8 The National Health Fund (CNS) reported that the Covid-19 certificates that came out positive must be presented by the human resources units of each of the institutions and not by the affiliate.
9 With this resolution, the insured no longer has the obligation to go to social security to process medical leave. If after seven days the patient tests positive for a new diagnostic study, the period of incapacity for work may be extended for another seven days.
10 The CNS reported that the positive test – which will allow for a medical discharge – will be valid for seven days. In other words, people who tested positive the previous week can still present the document to their human resources units to obtain this disability permit for up to a week.
eleven Supreme Decree 4641 provides that policyholders, beneficiaries and users of public and private entities affiliated with short-term social security who have not voluntarily been vaccinated against Covid-19 must present a negative PCR certificate updated every 15 days. The cost of the study must be borne by the interested party.
12 The CNS also ordered that “the taking of PCR tests for administrative purposes and for them to be presented in the human resources units of public and private entities, where unvaccinated people work, will not be taken.”
In addition, the CNS authorized the presentation of the PCR tests carried out in the laboratories authorized by the different departmental health services (Headquarters) of the country to access regular and emergency care in all the assistance centers of the insurance institution.
