The XIX edition of The Panama Championship will be held at the Club de Golf de Panamá in
February 2 to 5.
This prestigious tournament is part of the Korn Ferry Tour, the main development tour of the
maximum world golf circuit, the PGA Tour.
For this edition of The Panama Championship, a record purse of
$1,000,000.00 in prizes, a record number for a professional sporting event in our
country.
The Korn Ferry Tour returns to our country with the XVIII edition of The Panama Championship,
professional tournament to be played at the Panama Golf Club from February 2 to 5.
This will be the third stop of the Korn Ferry Tour in its 2023 season and it is expected to have the
participation of around 140 players who will come from all over the world as
They are: United States, Argentina, Germany, Australia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, England,
Mexico, Norway, and South Africa.
For this edition of The Panama Championship, the tournament organization has allocated
two invitations to play the tournament for junior golfers Samuel Durán and Jean Paul
Ducruet. Both players have shown a great competitive level in the 2022 tournaments
both the APAGOLF Tour (tour of the highest level in our country), and tournaments
international in which they have participated.
Samuel Durán is currently ranked 522 in the World Golf Ranking
Amateur (WAGR), represented Panama in the past Games
Suramericanos de Asunción and among its most recent results, the triumph in the
Isthmian Junior, second place at the Panama Amateur Championship held in January
this year and a fourth place last week in the AJGA Panama Junior.
For his part, Jean Paul Ducruet was recently representing Panama in the Latin
American Amateur Championship (LAAC) golf tournament
most important amateur in the region, where he made the cut and was ranked 37th.
Ducruet is ranked 631st in the WAGR and in 2022 he had two wins on the APAGOLF Tour.
The Panama Championship has witnessed the talent of great golf figures such as
Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Bubba Watson, Tony Finau and Matt Kuchar, who passed
by previous editions of the tournament and today they are world stars of this sport.
