From July 6 to 10, the XIII edition of the Nicolás Guillén International Festival and Colloquium will be held for the first time in Camagüey.
Guillén’s work, thought and cultural heritage constitute several of the topics included in the program of conferences, panels and concerts for the commemoration of the 120th anniversary of the great Cuban poet’s birth.
The vice president of the Nicolás Guillén Foundation, Orlando Hernández Jiménez, said: “We believe that it should be a celebration of culture, academia, science, debates, and art in general.”
Among other activities, a sculpture by Martha Jiménez will be unveiled in the Plaza de los Trabajadores, the poet’s birthplace will be reopened and Tony Ávila will give a concert in the Plaza del Carmen.
Likewise, there will be a debate on social inequalities and racism, led by the Guillén Foundation.
