Even sparing many holders, Flamengo did not find it difficult to beat Coritiba 2-0, at Estádio Mané Garrincha, in Brasília, for the 17th round of Serie A of the Brazilian Championship. With the result, Rubro-Negro reached 24 points and occupies, momentarily, the seventh position in the general classification. The team from Paraná, on the other hand, continued without victories away from home and stopped at 19 points, being able to enter the relegation zone until the end of the round, in the second (18).

Dorival Júnior changed the team a lot. Rodinei, Filipe Luís, Léo Pereira, Fabrício Bruno, Thiago Maia, Everton Ribeiro and Arrascaeta were on the bench. Despite preserving many holders, Flamengo was not scared.
Using forward Marinho on the right side and taking advantage of the opponent’s marking failures, the team from Rio came to victory with two goals from the aerial ball. In the 12th minute of the first half, Lázaro took a corner and Gustavo Henrique went up, unmarked, to head. The ball still touched the right post of Muralha before entering the goal.
The second goal also came from a corner. In the 21st minute, Marinho threw the ball at the first post, Pedro deflected it halfway and Diego appeared inside the small area to, with his head, complete a free-kick and set the score.

Coritiba tried to react in crosses by Egídio, but the defense formed by Gustavo Henrique and Pablo won almost all of them on top. The visiting team’s only chance came in the 42nd minute. Léo Gamalho took advantage of the cross and headed it wide, bringing danger to Santos’ goal.
In the second half, Coxa managed to get right defensively in the first minutes, even so, they didn’t create goalscoring opportunities. For Flamengo, coach Dorival Júnior, little by little, put more players on the field, such as Thiago Maia and Everton Ribeiro. However, the best chance for Rubro-Negro came with Vitinho, in the 22nd minute. He received a nice pass from Marinho, appeared in Muralha’s face, but kicked it out.
Flamengo only controlled the result and was only threatened in the 43rd minute, with Alef Manga. Shirt 11 advanced on the right, dribbled two markers and kicked hard, low, with his left leg, to hit goalkeeper Santos’ crossbar.
In the next round, Flamengo will face Juventude, on Wednesday (20), at Mané Garrincha, at 8:30 pm (Brasilia time). Coritiba will face Corinthians on the same day, at 9:30 pm, at Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo.
