The blockades of Evism that surrounded Cochabamba, Oruro and La Paz for 14 days, were escalating their violence to the point of causing damage to ambulances and leaving injured not only the police, but also the medical personnel who sought to help the injured after the attacks, even the blockaders themselves and the population of the communities that were surrounded.

The measure is considered one of the most critical recorded in recent years, and for the Minister of Health and Sports, María Renee Castro, the blockers have put health at risk and security of the population participating in the mobilizations as outsiders to them.

Even in wars ambulances are respected and the medical personnel and that is not happening today,” the minister said at a press conference, after visiting the injured at the National Health Fund (CNS) in Cochabamba.

He added that, if the blockers do not let even the personnel on foot pass, they even keep them detained in the place and outside the ambulances.

“Yesand they don’t let the medical staff pass, they are putting health at risk In his municipality, they are not guaranteeing him food. Not only do they put those at riskEven in the blockades, those who were stranded put the health of their municipality at risk,” he declared.

“It is irresponsible,” added the minister and explained that the epicenter of the violence is Cochabamba, where patients unrelated to the mobilizations who seek to be treated for other emergencies are affected.

He gave as an example the case of a pregnant woman, who sought to be transferred for her delivery, but was prevented from being transferred to a tertiary hospital. “LThey have kindly not let him pass and They ended up removing her uterus,” she said.

At the blocking points they force open the doors of the ambulances, they search the unit despite having patients suffering from pain. “They see patients screaming in pain or bleeding, they see them with IVs and serums, they open the doors of the ambulances and They don’t let them pass,” he said.

He questioned the mayors to find a way for health to reach their municipalities and guarantee the health of their population. “They don’t let people pass by even walking, they can’t bring medication. There are patients with diabetes and hypertension who need to receive their medications. RThey have medical staff, They beat them, attack ambulances, throw dynamites and continue blocking them at other points when they manage to evade a place,” he denounced.

The Police are mobilized in an attempt to unblock the blockade points installed by Evism in the west of the country.
