Madrid Spain.- After the massacre that occurred in the Ukrainian city of Bucha, allegedly caused by Russian soldiers, several European countries announced on Monday the expulsion of Russian diplomats. Among these nations are France, Germany, Denmark, Italy and Sweden.
The French Foreign Ministry stated that “France has decided to expel numerous Russian personnel with diplomatic status assigned to France whose activities are contrary to our security interests.” While the Government of Germany described 40 Russian diplomats as “persona non grata”, reported Europe Press.
For its part, the European Union plans to announce this Wednesday a new package of sanctions against Moscow, related to vetoing imports of oil and coal.
The president of the United States, Joe Biden, has also spoken out against the events in Bucha, where more than 300 people were killed.
“You may remember that I was criticized for calling Putin a war criminal. Well, the truth is that they have seen what happened in Bucha. This justifies him: he is a war criminal. But we have to gather the information. We have to continue to provide Ukraine with the weapons it needs to continue the fight and we have to get all the details so that this can be a true war crime.”
After five weeks of resisting the attacks, the city of Bucha declared his release. Following his withdrawal, the Russian Armed Forces killed hundreds of civilians. The devastation of the city has been captured in shocking images by the news agency AFP.
Although the Kremlin denies its responsibility for the events, the Ukrainian government denounced that this is one of the largest massacres committed in Europe since the Second World War, and President Volodímir Zelenski stated that returning to negotiations with Russia after this tragedy “It will be a challenge.”
