Relatives of political prisoner Eudis Girot denounced that during the night of this Thursday, April 7, the oil leader was on the verge of losing his life, suffering a severe cardiac arrhythmia after a tear gas canister was thrown in the cell where he was being held, while he waited. go to a hearing for the judicial process that is followed in court.

“They uploaded it at 10:30 at night. A national guard launched a tear gas canister, putting his life at risk. This is the second time that the security forces put Eudis’s life at risk,” said the wife of the executive director of the Unitary Federation of Oil Workers of Venezuela ( Futpv).

Through his social networks, Ríos called on Nicolás Maduro “to take action on the matter” and ensure the integrity of the imprisoned workers.

“If the instances of Justice do not respond to the interests of the people but to their filthy politics, they almost kill innocent people and if one goes to the Prosecutor’s Office, Ombudsman, TSJ, Vice Presidency or calls Nicolás Maduro, nobody responds,” said the rights activist. rights and oil union leader in the eastern region.

Eudis Girot, who is the executive director of the Unitary Federation of Oil Workers of Venezuela (Futpv), has been deprived of liberty since November 18, 2020, accused of crimes associated with terrorism and illicit possession of weapons after participating in protests to demand salary and labor benefits for workers in the oil sector.

Girot was in the waiting cell in the courts of the Palace of Justice, located on the corner of Cruz Verde, in downtown Caracas, accompanied by Rodney Álvarez, another union leader imprisoned by state agencies.

During his detention in 2020, Girot was originally transferred to the headquarters of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) in Caracas, but was later transferred to the El Rodeo prison in Miranda state.
