Euclides promises to fight piracy in Ciudad del Este

Euclides Acevedo, candidate for President of the Republic for the New Republic movement, carried out a series of activities in Ciudad del Este this weekend. The presidential candidate made two tours and a meeting with the locals.

On Saturday, August 27, he visited Ciudad del Este in Alto Paraná. During the morning, he held a press conference where he expressed that a commercial reconversion in the aforementioned border city is urgent. “Only employment guarantees a living wage and that ensures paying for the children’s study, health and university,” he pointed out.

He stressed that Alto Paraná is a nerve center, not only because of electoral demography, but also because there is a vital economy, energy power and commercial capacity.

Euclides also stressed that there is no development if there is no trade, because only trade provides employment and social peace. In this sense, he asserted that his proposal is to agree, combine, negotiate and agree with the economic strength of Alto Paraná, especially with Ciudad del Este, to carry out a commercial and industrial conversion. “The governor is going to accompany me in the renegotiation of the Itaipu treaty, with the next president of Brazil, because annex ‘C’ is only an episode”, he added.

The candidate also promised that his government will fight piracy: “I’m not going to do it alone, we’ll do it together. The Public Ministry and the Judiciary must work, it is a transnational crime, we have to protect property and make the law work. The law is not negotiated or discussed,” he maintained.

After the press conference, Euclides toured the center of Ciudad del Este and the supply market to greet the workers and merchants, reiterating that only popular contact will make it possible to know the reality and based on that, define the policies to be implemented for this sector. To close their tour of Ciudad del Este, they arrived at the Municipal Sports Center, where people from Itakyry, O’leary, Mallorquín, Hernandarias, Ñacunday, Presidente Franco and other districts were waiting for him.
