The European Commission said this Friday (13) that it will open an airlift to Syria to provide emergency medical assistance and other essential supplies.
“The collapse of the Assad regime offers new hope for the Syrian people. But this moment of change also brings risks and difficulties,” said President Ursula von der Leyen.
The European Union said it had funded flights to take a total of 50 tonnes of health supplies from EU stockpiles in Dubai to Adana, Turkey, for distribution in Syria in the coming days.
Additionally, 46 tons of health, education and shelter support supplies will be trucked from Denmark to Adana.
