The goal of this humanitarian aid is to address the needs of people affected by the conflict, especially Afro-Colombian and indigenous communities, natural hazards, and those of Venezuelan refugees and vulnerable migrants in the country, as well as host communities, he added. the Commission.
Lenarcic plans to travel to Panama tomorrow, where he will participate in the high-level meeting of the regional coordination mechanism for the crisis in Venezuela, the so-called R4V platform, where the regional assessment of the needs of migrants and refugees will be presented.
Food assistance, health services, education in emergencies, protection, and psychosocial and legal assistance are the main sectors to which the new aid destined for Colombia will be directed.
This money will also enhance disaster preparedness programs, with the goal of increasing the resilience of vulnerable populations. For the EU, these programs are key to counteracting the increasingly devastating implications of climate change in Colombia, but also in the region in general.
