Estudio Arnold & Porter will be in charge of the legal defense of Peru before international investment controversies

The contracting of the firm Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP, selected by the Special Commission within the framework of Law No. 28933, which establishes the State Coordination and Response System in International Investment Disputes, is approved.

It is sought that this study represents the Peruvian State in international investment disputes, being in charge of the selection of the services of lawyers and other professionals that are required, while the contracting will be carried out by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

“In response to the powers granted by Law No. 28933, the aforementioned Special Commission requests the hiring of the legal defense to represent the Peruvian State in the international arbitration stage initiated by Raúl Francisco Javier Linares Sanoja, Aram Asset Management, NV and Intresor SAC against the Republic of Peru, having selected for this purpose the study Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP to provide legal advice to the Peruvian State in the present case”, stipulates the norm.

Along these lines, the document indicates that the budget forecast for contracting is up to S/ 20,324,150 in fiscal years 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.
